Overview

The 54th Provincial Assembly marked a historic return to an in-person gathering for the confreres of the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Province following a three-year hiatus due to the global pandemic restrictions. Hosted at the Marello Retreat House in Tagaytay City, Philippines, the assembly brought together missionaries, directors, and administrators to evaluate core activities, coordinate provincial vocations, align safeguarding standards, and renew their joint missionary identity in the region of Australia and Asia.

During the assembly, special reflection sessions were dedicated to the spiritual charism of our founder, Saint John Baptist Scalabrini, centering on the theme of seeing and serving Christ inside the migrant:

“God loves his Son and loves him in essence. It is impossible that he may find his delight in anyone else but in him because God’s love is infinite and it can only have an object of infinite value… But this beloved Son of his, became man. Therefore, he loves man in him. With one joy and one love he embraces all, body, flesh, and soul.”

  • Introduction of the Assembly’s Executive Committee by the preparatory committee.
  • Formal review and official approval of the Agenda.
  • Welcome remarks and Official Opening of the 54th Provincial Assembly by the Provincial Superior.

Tuesday, April 18

  • Morning Prayer.
  • Session: Comprehensive Report on the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Province by the Provincial Superior, followed by an open forum.
  • Session: Ministry Report on India and future expansion plans, presented by the Provincial Superior.
  • Live online fraternal interaction with the Seminarians at the Novitiate in Cebu.
  • Financial Session: Report of the Provincial Bursar and approval of the 2023 Provincial budget.
  • Concelebrated Holy Eucharist. Presiders: Frs. Luis Antonio Diaz Lamus and Delmar Silva Paez, celebrating their 25th Ordination Anniversary.
  • Live online interaction with the Seminarians at the STHS in Manila.
  • Session: Safeguarding Policy updates, presented by Mr. Michael and Fr. Savino Bernardi, including reports on formation house audits in Asia and data auditing requirements.
  • Session: Committee on Media & social media regulations, code of conduct review, and open forum.

Wednesday, April 19

  • Morning Prayer.
  • Live online fraternal interaction with the Seminarians at the Postulancy in Cebu.
  • Council Session: Report of Fr. Mario Geremia, General Administration Councilor, followed by an open forum.
  • Session: Reports from the Secretariats (Religious & Pastoral Life and Formation & On-going Formation) presented by Councilors in charge.
  • Holy Eucharist, presided by Fr. Mario Geremia, General Councilor.
  • Session: Continuation and open discussions on the Secretariat reports.
  • Fraternal get-together and recreational socials.

Thursday, April 20

  • Morning Prayer.
  • Live online fraternal interaction with the Seminarians at the Scalabrini Formation Center in Manila.
  • Pastoral Session: Review of the Scalabrinian Villages and elderly migrant welfare programs, followed by an open forum.
  • Scalabrinian Spirituality sharing: Lay perspective c/o Ms. Evelyn Rosal; Mission perspective c/o Fr. Luciano; Formation perspective c/o Fr. Bao.
  • Session: The Importance of Spirituality in the Mission, c/o guest speaker Fr. John Era, CM.
  • Holy Eucharist: Presided by Fr. Joseph Nguyen Van Giang and homily by Fr. Alvirio Mores.

Friday, April 21

  • Live online fraternal interaction with the Seminarians in Ruteng and Maumere, Indonesia.
  • Varia Session: General issues, concerns, suggestions, and administrative adjustments open forum.
  • Session: Evaluation of the 54th Provincial Assembly and initial preparation for the 55th Provincial Assembly (assignments for preparatory committees, secretaries, liturgists, scrutineers, and socials).
  • Concluding Concelebrated Mass: Presided by the Provincial Superior and Provincial Councilors.
